Business Mentoring

Cloudburst – breaking through the haze into clear blue sky.

Each one of us has to make decisions. Sometimes we have to make decisions that are trivial. Other times they are life changing.

What we all know is that the life changing decisions have to be made when surrounded by the fog of the day to day activity.

What we want is the time to get our thoughts to fly in formation rather than have them swirl around our heads where they simply clog up the brain.

This situation has some common symptoms. An inability to focus on then bigger issues, irascibility, irritability, inability to delegate, fatigue, awareness that only a small part of the brain is engaged on any one issue, sleeplessness, sense of haziness or detachment.

Here is the good news – this situation can be resolved.

The bad news is that you have tried most of them and are still mired in the mud. You’ve done the Time management courses, NLP, p prevarication and assertiveness workshops. You’ve read all the self help books but still these thoughts just seem to slosh around inside.

How can you solve this seemingly intractable problem?

Through effective Business Mentoring.

But sometimes you need a bit more help. By recognising the type of person you are and how you go about solving problems.

If you have got this far then I will make an assumption that you are a kinaesthetic learner – you learn not by reading (visual) or by hearing (auditory) but by doing (kinaesthetic). You prefer to talk things through a bit at a time and then work them through with someone you have a relationship with and you know like and trust.

That relationship acts as a catalyst for action. You don’t want to let your partner down so you make the effort to do the heavy lifting that you alone would not be prepared to do or would do but in an informal haphazard way.The very last thing you would do is to write it all down!

But for most there is too much at stake to have these conversations with seniors, peers or subordinates. It would demonstrate to them that you may not have the answer. It makes you vulnerable. So rather than getting to grips with the problem you prefer instead to use coping strategies that help you to ease your way through them.

You do everything at the last minute excusing yourself by telling everyone you work better under pressure. Or you do a half finished job and then seek consensus by negotiation. If all these fail you manipulate the recipients into getting them to feel sorry for you by walking in with a hang dog expression that shows you have the whole world’s cares on your shoulders.

There are two secrets that I am prepared to reveal to you:

1.    You are not alone – at least 25% of the population think like you

2.    You don’t have to adapt or adopt new methods to resolve this situation.

The solution is to play to your strengths rather than to your weaknesses. Let’s face it – you like to talk! Talking is what you do best. You talk your way through problems, you chat to gain clarity, you verbalise your thoughts. Why? Because you think so mush faster than others you don’t have the time to commit them to paper or get them adequately challenged or in order. So why not use this positive personality trait to solve the problems.

Find someone who has the skill, ability and expertise to help you to talk through the problems or issues, help you to align them, challenge them where necessary and get them flying in formation.

CloudBurst - talking to get clarity

The good news is that all you have to do is to talk! We will hear what you have to say, align them into some sort of order and then convert this stream of consciousness into a written document.

Who might benefit from this approach?

  • CEOs, MDs and Chairs who are struggling to plan the strategy, vision and mission statement
  • Senior executives that have to produce a project plan or craft a business case to support an initiative.
  • Executives struggling with a complex issue or issues.
  • Senior staff looking to implement change or drafting plans such as marketing, operations and HR where the decisions have a seemingly unending number of options.
  • Individuals involved in scenario planning

How does it work?

Simplicity itself. You go to the PayPal button below and follow the instructions. We receive a note from PayPal that you have completed the form and that you would like to kick start the process. We will than email you to set up a date.

The discussion will always be face to face in a neutral location with the right tools available to allow you to express yourself and to allow us to capture the information.

We then write up the material and send you the report for review.

Simple really!

And last but not least – what is the cost of this?We want to be as flexible as we can so there are two options:

1. We come to your offices and sit in the meeting room.

2. We hire a room offsite and talk there.

Both costs £150 for the first hour then £75 for each additional hour but option 2 carries with it the cost of hiring the room. We know that this is typically £50 so that is the total we charge.
