We are tantalisingly close to the end of the year and it’s important to tie up as many loose ends as possible.

Leaving projects unfinished could risk them dropping off your list of priorities, and remembering you forgot to email that vital information to a client in the middle of your Christmas dinner will make you feel like a right turkey (sorry, we had to!).

Here are a few simple steps to make sure everything’s wrapped up before Christmas:

Be realistic about what needs to be done and what you can achieve

You can only do so much before you lock the door and turn off the lights. Whether you are taking a few days or a couple of weeks off, knowing that you’ve completed everything you needed to will provide invaluable peace of mind. Meet with colleagues to discuss priorities and make sure the things which must be completed do get done.

Send season’s greetings

One task which should be near the top of your to-do list should be a Christmas message to your contacts. It’s a great opportunity to check in with your contacts and offer your services for the New Year. But be careful – your communication must stand out, whether it’s an email, ecard or video, because there will be plenty of other businesses vying for your contacts’ inbox space.

Plan for next year

If you have time, the end of the calendar year can be a great time to reflect on what you’ve achieved and what you’d like to achieve by this time next year.
